It’s the season…

… and we don’t mean the season to be jolly, although we are looking forward to the Holidays as well. For us it is the season for planting at our nursery. And an important season it is! Fall is the perfect time where we plant our flower bulbs so they can grow big and strong for harvest season next year.

Planting flower bulbs

Spring-flowering bulbs such as tulips, daffodils and hyacinths are planted in the autumn, from September to December, before the first ground frost. Summer-flowering bulbs such as dahlias and calla lilies are planted in the spring as soon as there is no risk of ground frost. The flower bulbs are put up straight, to ensure optimum growth.

We select the best flower bulbs

After the harvest our flower bulbs go through a selecting process, and the big and beautiful ones are shipped to our customers overseas. The smaller ones are left behind in the Netherlands to grow for another year on our fields. After the blooming and culling period where we select only the strongest and tallest bulbs and after the sales, we are left with a stock of promising young flower bulbs. In October and November we replant these bulbs again so we can benefit from their beauty in Spring. And your customers can benefit from them next year!
